Our Riesling Block vineyard was first planted in 1919 to a mixture of varieties. In the late 1970s it was planted to riesling before eventually grafted across to shiraz is the late 1980s.
"It is fascinating to vacillate between this and its single-vineyard sibling Galaxidia. While the latter is pulpier, lifted, reductive and floral, this is a drive across the palate, tactile and pliant. The long mesh of tannins, grape and oak, serving as the engine room. More savoury. Restrained, perhaps. Red cherry, clove, licorice and a finish of white pepper-soused freshness. The sweetness expands subtly. This is an exercise in finely boned structure. 94 points"

"Deep colour with a slightly inky bouquet, spiced plums and preserved plums, lots of glycerol in the glass. The wine is big and brawny, concentrated, with plenty of savoury tannins giving it a drying finish. Good now and will take some age well. 91 points"
