"From '60s estate vines; 16 months in French oak, 30% new. This takes a little more new oak than the other single-vineyard shiraz bottlings, owing to a generally fuller fruit profile. That oak is mostly subsumed by dark plum, tapenade and licorice powder, fringed with dried hardy herbs and pepper. Fruit depth and tannic fortitude are the foundations, but there is a deft touch to this – it's a sign of the times here. 93 points"
