Harvest started on the Estate with the Chenin Blanc approx. 3wks ahead of the 2017 vintage timeline. After an initial flurry of whites and some lower yielding Shiraz we eased into a steady rhythm of harvesting. We had a dry summer with average temperatures, however the wet spring of 2017 allowed for good canopy growth and constant management in the vineyard during ripening was required for balanced ripening.
The resulting wines are showing fantastic depth of colour and flavour with balanced ripe tannins. Shiraz is a particularly strong variety from this vintage with others such as Sangiovese, Nero and Montepulciano showing great aromatic lift and freshness. A very happy winery.
